In Genesis 22, Abraham faces an extraordinary test when God asks him to offer Isaac—the son he loves and the son through whom God has promised to fulfil his purposes. Beneath the confronting request lies a deeply relational question: What does God mean to Abraham, and how much does he trust him?

But Abraham’s “here I am” ultimately points beyond himself to Jesus, the Son who perfectly said to his Father, “Here I am. I have come to do your will.”
The question then comes back to us: What is God allowed to put on the agenda for your life? Are there things you will trust him for but refuse to entrust to him?
Because the most dangerous person in the world is the one who says to God, “I’ll do whatever you want me to do.”
